R&D Program Manager – Biotechnology Company
This Sydney based Biotechnology Company holds a dominant global patent position within its' specific area and therefore is placed in a commanding position for developing therapies for human conditions associated with specific genes and genetic disorders. It has a very supportive positive environment where everyone "pitches in".
They are now seeking a Program Manager to work with the Chief Scientist and the Senior Vice President of R&D on a range of pre-clinical and clinical development programs.
The focus of your role is to:
Design, plan, manage, coordinate and control the execution of these development projects within the business.
Focus on advancing existing projects whilst also assisting the Chief Scientist and the Senior Vice President of R&D in assessing new opportunities.
You will be expected to manage project related activities from concept to launch stage in order to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within approved funding limits and achieve the final project objectives.
The role will involve:
Communication with internal personnel, third party laboratories and external collaborators in order to manage milestones, deadlines, logistics, infrastructure, compliance with regulatory requirements and other needs.
IP management will be required and some assistance in grant writing/preparation may be required.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Reporting to the CEO, you will be required to:
    • Serve as the central point of contact for internal teams, third party labs and external scientific collaborators
    • Work with the Scientific Executives to assess feasibility of project scope & final project objectives.
    • Work with the Scientific Executives to develop detailed project timeline to ensure that there is sufficient flexibility and contingency in the plan to respond to unanticipated difficulties.
    • Ensure that projects are being delivered in expected timings.
    • Assign, define schedules for and track cross-functional tasks/activities,
    • Proactively identifies issues and drives the team to resolution.  Develop contingency and troubleshooting plans as needed.
    •  Prepare, edit, and update project timelines and documentation (i.e. required forecasting, budget, deliverables, reports, agendas, minutes, tracking sheets, etc.) to ensure successful execution and completion of outlined deliverables

    • Manage IP as it relates to each project
    To be considered for the role you would need to demonstrate;
    • A strong science background in life sciences, ideally in molecular biology
    • Postgraduate management qualifications would be an advantage
    • At least 3 years' experience of project/program management within a therapeutic biotech or pharmaceutical company.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent documentation and organizational skills.
    • Strong managerial skills, including the ability to organize multiple work streams and to multi-task
    • Ability to negotiate and deliver on measurable outcomes
