Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) has been researching and teaching in the treatment of infectious, debilitating and disabling diseases since 1898. LSTM’s active research portfolio is in excess of £200 million and its internationally renowned teaching programme attracts students from over 65 countries.

In July 2013, LSTM became a Higher Education Institute (HEI). LSTM is in the process of applying for degree awarding powers. The anticipated grant date is 2017 which would result in the first intake by September 2019.

LSTM’s teaching programme currently comprises a variety of diplomas and masters. Research facilities are also provided for PhD students.

The teaching faculty is a significant growth area for LSTM and this will be further fuelled once the organisation is granted degree awarding status for domestic and international undergraduates.

As a result of this exciting development, we are looking for a cost/management accountant with a higher education background who will quickly become conversant in our higher education model and provide a robust costing solution to enable us to identify the key cost drivers behind course provision at LSTM.  The successful applicant will excel in the creation of sound financial models that can be utilised with ease and ownership by non-financial personnel. We are also seeking recommendations and insights surrounding break even analysis, comprehensive cost capture together with potential efficiency opportunities appropriate to our Education business model.

We expect this project to last a maximum of four months and are seeking to appoint immediately.

Rates are highly competitive and will be negotiable for the candidate with the appropriate experience.

The successful applicant will be employed on a contractor basis and will be paid on an invoiced basis at an agreed day rate.
