Job description
Takes the lead and manages financial and accounting projects as per the direction of the FD.
Provide detailed analytics to support senior and executive management.
Tend to ad hoc requests and requirements of executive management.
Identifies issues, problem areas and areas for improvement in divisions operations and shared services and suggests and implements corrective actions.
Oversees the tax compliance of the group.
Liaises with SARS on tax technical matters.
Prepares and issues budget guidelines to the business units.
Monitors, evaluates and reports on performance against budget.
Prepares financial models to be used by the executive committee in developing the group\'s strategy.
Assists with the preparation and review of consolidated group management accounts.
Review of the subsidiaries management accounts.
Assists with the preparation of the financial section of the executive committee report.
Maintains a sound understanding of each business, operations and product offerings, including key ratios and performance drivers.
Develop performance metrics that support the company\'s strategic direction.
Prepares consolidated financial statements for the annual and interim reports as per JSE and IFRS requirements.
Prepares interim and annual results presentation to be submitted to the audit committee and Board.
Planning with external auditors to ensure timeous and successful completion of annual audit.
Review of subsidiary reporting packs prior to submission and inclusion in the consolidated results.
Participates in financial and corporate policy development as a member of the senior finance team.
Ensures good corporate governance throughout the business units.
Monitors financial compliance for the group through BarnOwl.
Assist with business valuations, acquisition due diligence and investment committee proposals.
Ensures that capital investments meet the group\'s business objectives and calculates the discounted cash flow yield on projects.
Assists in the implementation of procedures and systems in order to streamline the accounting process
Assists in reporting system development and improvement
Plays an active supporting role to the managing directors and financial managers in the group\'s business units - assists with requests and concerns.
Performs final review of payment batches before payments are released.
Performs and manages central treasury function including depravities trading
Reports to the financial director and executive committee.
Attends board, audit and risk committee meetings as required from time to time.
Liaise with group executive and functional managers, auditors, finance team, key personnel in organisations with substantial/large contracts with the group, banking key account managers, subsidiary CFO\'s and finance teams, new business development

Requirements
Qualified CA, with a strong technical accounting background
Four to five years\' experience including prior group experience in consolidation issues, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence and treasury (including transfer pricing) essential (not negotiable)
Experience in the media industry an advantage.
Sound understanding of financial instruments
Willing and able to travel to other African countries
Proficient in Caseware, BarnOwl, Pastel Evolution and MS-Office
Project management
Excellent writing and communication skills
Ability to develop financial and operational models
