Piping Materials Engineer

We are currently seeking a high caliber Piping Materials Engineer to work on a contract basis. Based in Calgary or in Edmonton you will be working for one of the world’s leading engineering, procurement and construction companies to the Oil, Gas & Petrochemical sector.
Materials Engineers work on various projects including feasibility studies, front-end and detailed design.
Duties typically involve all relevant aspects of plant designing, negotiations with vendors and clients, as well as plant construction and start-up.
Under general supervision, the Materials Engineers apply an extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in assignments and related work, and make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods. They are also responsible for representing the Piping Department in conferences to resolve important questions and coordinate work.
The successful candidate(s) will:
    provide piping materials engineering support for pressure piping systems
    provide technical support/consultation to projects during design and construction
    prepare piping engineering specifications including line classes, detailed piping component purchase descriptions and fabrications specifications
Basic Job Requirements
    Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgy degree with a minimum of 8 years experience
    Professional registration is preferred
