Brief Job Description
The Educational Assistant is an important classroom asset, and as such candidates who qualify can expect to offer support to teachers and students, but to also teach occasionally in a classroom setting. As such, OCT qualifications, as well as Special Education additional qualifications, are required. Key job description points may include, but are not limited to:
• Assist teachers in the classroom;
• Supervision of students inside classroom , on Virtual Classroom, and outside of the classroom;
• One-on-one tutoring, under teacher direction;
• Assist students with exceptionalities;
• Teach 20-40% class load, including lesson planning and assessment. Specific Requirements: • OCT qualified teacher in good standing;
• Special Education Part 1, or like qualification;
• Experience in a working classroom and school setting;
• Criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening (VSS). Skills
• Technologically competent (computers, overheads, Elmo projectors, etc.)
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Positive outlook and team-oriented personality
