Job Description
POSITION: LEAD KINDERGARTEN TEACHER
Sun Haven Waldorf School, located on the Sunshine Coast, in the town of Roberts Creek, BC, is recruiting a Lead Kindergarten Teacher for the 2014- 2015 school year. This teacher is responsible for carrying a 5-day kindergarten program (24.5 hours/week).The teacher’s role is three-fold. The Lead Kindergarten Teacher will plan and implement a Waldorf kindergarten curriculum that is enriched by seasonal celebrations and festivals, will maintain excellent communication and relationships with the class parents, Sun Haven faculty and staff on a regular basis, and will perform basic classroom administrative duties. Teachers also will plan to schedule and hold parent evenings and conferences; to attend weekly faculty meetings and other functions such as festivals, promotional evenings for prospective families & other special events to carry the responsibilities associated with their leadership role in the Kindergarten program and the school.
The Kindergarten program adheres to the Ministry of Education Prescribed Learning Outcomes as outlined in the Sun Haven School Equivalent Learning Outcomes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Education, University Degree as required by the Min. of Education, BC Teacher Regulation Branch OR a System Restricted Teaching Certificate (SYR), a BC Independent School Teaching Certificate eligible by completing 120+ semester hour credits of relevant post-secondary education from a recognized institution.
• A teaching credential from a recognized ECE Waldorf Education program accredited through WECAN or AWSNA; or must be willing to begin ECE Waldorf Teacher Training.  
 Note: (scheduling of training to be discussed at time of position interview)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Waldorf setting preferred; extensive experience working with children under the age of 7 and their families is required.
• First Aid certificate and criminal record checks required
•    Proven ECE leadership and organizational skills in a school setting.
•    Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
Hours & Length of Year:
Classroom hours for the Lead Kindergarten Teacher will be from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm for the morning program. There is an afternoon Kindergarten program, but it is led by another teacher who is responsible to the Lead Kindergarten teacher.  The school year begins the second week of September and ends the second week of June.
