K + S Windsor Salt Ltd. is a market leader involved in mining, manufacturing, processing and distribution of salt products. We are currently seeking an individual for the Maintenance Engineer position at our Pugwash Mine, located in Pugwash, Nova Scotia
This position\'s prime objective is to oversee the maintenance of all electrical equipment Underground, Rock Salt Mill and Marine Terminal. The incumbent also coordinates activities and works with the local utilities ie:  Power and Phone.
Reporting directly to the General Maintenance Foreman, the incumbent will be responsible to: Abide by all applicable legislation and regulations.
    Abide by all posted signs, employee safety rules, and applicable job procedures.
    Maintain a 4160 volt distribution system to surface hoisting equipment and underground sub-stations.
    Maintain a 600 volt distribution system to Underground equipment as well as Surface and Underground crushing and conveying equipment.
    Maintain P.L.C. Logic Controllers in the underground and surface operations.
    Maintain power supply and instrumentation.
    Maintain an Underground communication system consisting of hard wired antenna, amplifiers & transmitters for a VHF radio system, as well as conventional phones.
    Maintain a control/monitoring system for primary and secondary ventilation.
    Act as Plant Fire Chief and relief Maintenance Foreman.
In order to carry out the duties of this position, the incumbent is in contact with supervision from all plant departments, Purchasing and Stores, manufacturers’ representatives and government inspectors.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering with a strong automation background. The Candidate should be registered or eligible for registration as a professional engineer (APENS) and have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in maintenance engineering. Good knowledge of CAD, drafting procedures, document management, computerized maintenance management systems, Word and Excel is essential. Strong analytical, self starting, planning and organizational skills are an asset. Consistency in seeking ways to improve technical skills and learning that develop proactive habits that prevent equipment failures and provide guidance to site on improving equipment reliability and productivity.
Candidate must demonstrate leadership in the area of safety. This requires enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and complying with all applicable regulations, standards and policies.
