Junior Linux Systems Administrator

Our client is a successful global web technology company in the mobile phone sector.  They currently require a Linux Systems Administrator to assist in the maintenance and development of their infrastructure. 

Responsibilities include:

-          Providing desktop support to users in Windows, Linux and Mac environments

-          Administration of file services, backups, network connectivity, printing, WiFi, etc.

-          Participating in the maintenance and development of production, cloud-based infrastructure using technologies like EC2, NGINX, Puppet, mongoDB, etc.

 

Requirements:

Experience administering Linux/Unix systems

Experience working in a shell environment

Scripting ability in either shell, Python or Ruby

Understanding of TCP/IP fundamentals, DNS, DHCP, HTTP, etc.

Familiarity with good practice in backup processes

Flexible, available to take part in an on-call rotation to deal with issues outside normal working hours

Experience with a monitoring system desirable, e.g., Zabbix, Nagios, Munin

Automation experience would be an advantage, e.g., Puppet, Chef, Vagrant, Salt, Fabric

Familiarity with cloud environments, e.g. AWS, Rackspace, DigitalOcean, or any VPS system desirable

Some experience with source code control, e.g. Subversion, git, etc. would be a plus
