Electrical Assistant, Location, Plumstead, Southern Suburbs, Job Type Full-Time, Purpose of the Job Assist the qualified Electricians with installations, maintenance and repairs to electrical systems in multiple construction environments.

Assistance to the qualified electrician to make sure that electrical systems are safe and running efficiently and the assistance in the repair of defective electrical equipment.

To assist the qualified electrician with the installation and testing of new equipment and systems during construction and the assistance in the repair and maintenance of older, pre-existing systems.

Electrical Assistants will assist with coloured wiring and must be able to identify them by sight. To assist the Electrician with root cause findings and must be able to think logically around solutions. The assistant will work for different customers and must be friendly and professional when working on various construction sites. With the assistance of the Electrician, the assistant must be able to think critically when doing diagnostics. Must have basic mechanical skills as he will assist the electrician with the use of applicable tools and devices to service and install electrical equipment.

Ability to assist the electricians with the use of appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace and test voltages on electrical circuits and equipment. Ability to read, understand and follow safety procedures. Ability to assist with the isolation of defective wiring, switches and other electrical equipment. To assist the Electrician with the connection and wiring of db’s and contactor's as well as tracing of faults on db’s and contactor's.

Must have working knowledge of Electrical methods and practices as well as knowledge and ability to use electrical materials, tools and equipment. Must have completed apprenticeship or N2 electrical theory. Salary based on bargaining council rates.
