IT Technician, Location, Pietermaritzburg, Midlands, Advertised By Private, Job Type Full-Time.

The Role: Icon Information Systems (Pty) Ltd, (ICONIS) is seeking candidates in the IT Network Management space. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing company with a team setting itself as one of the most well recognised and well respected players in the ICT domain. As a IT Technician, you will be responsible for supporting equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment based at a client in Pietermaritzburg.

Duties and Responsibilities: Primarily providing and responding to 1st line IT helpdesk support incidents and requests from ICONIS staff using the telephone, email, helpdesk system and face to face. Troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues. Installing, upgrading and updating software. Setting up and configuring laptops, desktops, phones, tablets and other IT equipment. Providing some onsite support visits to Clients offices in South Africa. Communicating and liaising with staff on IT needs and reporting them back to the rest of the IT team. Assistance in IT projects and upgrades when required. Ensuring software licence compliance. Ensuring compliance and understanding of the IT policy. Data archiving. Ensuring security of IT infrastructure.

Required experience: Good knowledge and experience supporting Windows 7/10 and Office 2007/10/13/16. Some Previous IT support role experience preferable. Good knowledge of PC and Laptop hardware. Knowledge of Android and iOS on both phones and tablets. Basic networking knowledge (TCP/IP and LAN/WAN infrastructure). Ability to install, support and maintain hardware and software. Ability to provide telephone support to remote users of all levels. Good communication and outstanding customer service skills. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Ability to work well with others, as well as independently. Attention to detail. Must hold a valid driver’s license. Willing to work after hours and available on Standby.
