Personal / Care Assistant, Location: Carolina, Mpumalanga, Job Type: Contract. The position: Suitable candidates are invited to apply for following position. The client with a physical disability (quadriplegic) is looking for a friendly and competent male personal / care assistant to assist him in his professional career as a high school teacher. Are you professional and presentable? Do you have some experience as a personal assistant in an education environment and or a care assistant with disabled people? Are you able to multitask, organise and handle all situations professional?

Minimum requirements: Grade 12, Bilingual in Afrikaans and English, Valid driver’s license. Good understanding of classroom activities and teaching best practices. Must be compassionate with a positive attitude. Good written and verbal communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills. Knowledge of a quadriplegics’ needs. Physical stamina, strength to transfer the client and to administrate pressure relief. Excellent time management. Computer literate will be an added advantage.

Duties: Personal / care assistant typically include, but not limited to: Assist and support the client with his everyday live as a teacher. Assist the client with recordkeeping and administrative duties. Assist the client with lesson preparation by getting materials ready and setting up equipment. Ensure the classroom environment is clean and safe. Attend all classes, parent - and school meetings related to the client and extracurricular activities. Comply with the government, school, and class rules and regulations. Transportation to and from work and to other meetings and school activities such as sport. Help the client with his daily personal activities such as bathroom functions, pressure relief, transferring and all other needs related to his disability. Support the client with physical difficulties he experiences. Help the client to maintain good personal hygiene.
