Labourer / Gardening Assistant - Werribee Open Range Zoo, Melbourne, Ongoing Full Time, Monday-Friday, occasional weekend work may be required. Salary $44,577 to 50,149 plus superannuation.

The Labourer supports Tradesperson's working within the Horticulture department at Werribee Open Range Zoo. A primary focus of the role is delivering agreed standards to maximise visitor experience and provide a safe environment for our visitors, staff and animals. The primary responsibilities are to ensure the efficient, harvest and maintenance of browse, lawn and pasture maintenance, rabbit fence inspections and repair, mulching and weed control.

This position will also contribute to the maintenance of the plant collection, display of plant species, habitat restoration projects, pest control and planning and implementation of new developments as required.

Selection Criteria: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a small team and contribute to a positive team culture. Demonstrated interest in the principles and practices of horticulture or natural resource management. Demonstrated knowledge of OH&S procedures and work place safety. Proven ability to efficiently manage time, multiple tasks and priorities. Physically capable of carrying out manual tasks as required. Ability to operate a range of machinery. Current Driver's license. Current Working With Children check Proven communication and interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining harmonious productive relationships with all stakeholders.

Planning skills to deal with conflicting priorities, time frames and realistic customer expectations.
