Administration And Cleaning Assistant Position Available At Save-A-Pet, Location: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, Job Type: Full-Time. Save-a-Pet is a registered NPO, shelter for dogs and cats in Greenbushes, Port Elizabeth.

FUNCTION:  Primarily to perform front desk and admin duties. Secondarily to perform daily sanitization of all indoor hospital and holding facilities ensuring all animals are cared for regarding food, water, daily exercise, medication and appropriate living conditions. Also responsible for general housekeeping in the offices and kitchen per schedule.

Qualification requirements: Matriculated, Love of animals. Some animal handling experience preferred. Workable knowledge of proper animal care, or the ability to learn. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team environment. State of health must allow the ability to perform prolonged, strenuous activity, including lifting and carrying animals. Best suited to someone young and energetic. Allergic conditions which would be aggravated through exposure or contact with animals is a disqualification. 

Demonstrate personal communication knowledge to include effective telephone skills, and ability to communicate effectively in both writing and orally in English. Effective Afrikaans oral communication beneficial. Must be computer-literate (able to use Microsoft Word and Excel, E-mail and Social Media platforms). Good organizational skills. Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks. Ability to communicate with the public and co-workers in a professional, pleasant, courteous, tactful and effective manner at all times. Compliance with relevant animal legislation, including the Animal Protection Act and Nelson Mandela Metro Municipality By-laws, with regards to own animals. Available to work Saturdays and Sundays. Able to get to and from work on time (transportation not provided).  Driver’s License beneficial.

Working hours are 8:00 to 16:00 five days a week including Saturdays, Sundays and some public holidays.  Weekly wage with incremental merit adjustments consistent with current shelter policy. Full Job description can be obtained from the Manager.
