Location: Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, Job Type: Full-Time. Open position: Millwright. Location: Port Elizabeth. Salary: Market related. Type: Permanent position. Industry: Manufacturing. Working hours: 07:30 - 16:30 (including swing shifts when required).

A manufacturing concern is seeking a Millwright to minimize production losses due to electrical and mechanical machine breakdowns and industrial accidents.

Job requirements: N5-N6 Qualification or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Trade Certificate as a Millwright. 5 years electrical factory maintenance. 2 years factory maintenance in a supervisory role would be advantageous. Knowledge on industrial machines. Knowledge on occupational safety. Knowledge of PLC’s. Sound knowledge of Hydraulics and Pneumatics.

Duties include: Maintenance and repairs to all equipment - Attends to breakdowns by: Maintaining proper functioning of machinery in factory. Repairing all machinery faults. Welding and fabrication of machinery. Being available for callouts to minimize downtime. Being available to work weekends when requested. Help with mechanical breakdowns, e.g. hydraulic, pneumatic breakdowns.

Preventative Maintenance - Minimizes downtime by: Fault-finding and analysis of machine condition and failures. Optimize machines with a pro-active approach to continuous improvement. Maintaining electrical circuits and wiring of machines and buildings. Maintaining preventative maintenance schedules. Maintaining projects - Assist should machinery be relocated or design / wire machinery by: Re-organizing the factory lay-out by supplying services to positions where new machines are installed or existing machines relocated. Designing electrical and mechanical drawings for in-house built machines.

Re-designing electrical and mechanical drawings for existing machines. Provide technical and specialist support to the maintenance and production team. Industrial Safety - Maintains electrical safety standards by: Keeping abreast of technical developments in all fields. Maintaining machine regulations. Abide by all safety regulations.
