Head of Molo Mhlaba Outreach, Khayelitsha, Cape Flats. Molo Mhlaba Schools is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide safe, affordable, quality education for girls in their communities. In 2019, the school launched the Astro Molo Mhlaba project with the aim of creating exposure to astronomy for girls at the school as well as other schools in the community. Astronomy easily captures the imagination of students of all ages, making it the ideal subject through which to encourage these young girls to pursue STEAM careers. The Molo Mhlaba Outreach is an extension of the STEAM primary school based in Khayelitsha and aims to provide high quality STEAM after school related programmes to learners in neighboring schools and nonprofit organizations.

Molo Mhlaba Schools seeks to appoint a Head of Outreach on a full-time basis to work in expanding the Molo Mhlaba Outreach programmes.

Professional requirements: Hold a recognized qualification in Science / Project Management /Social Sciences or related fields. A minimum of 1-year work experience in the NPO sector/ working with children.

Proactive and outcomes driven. A working knowledge of the basic education sector, particularly primary school level or interest to learn. Impeccable writing skills. Excellent English and isiXhosa spoken and written communication skills. High level of competence in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, WordPress, MailChimp, social media and using the internet for professional work.

Flexibility and ability to juggle a demanding workload and work to deadlines. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Skills in building and maintaining excellent working relationships with external stakeholders, community members, schools and donors.

The ability to work sensitively and respectfully with people from different backgrounds. Remuneration is commensurate with experience. Molo Mhlaba reserves the right not to make an appointment.
