Software Engineer - .NET Developer

Velocity Markets is seeking to recruit a talented Software Engineer to work on new software projects within the margin forex industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a well qualified and experience candidate to join our team and help us grow new products and services.

Job Description

The Software Engineer will be responsible for design, coding, testing, delivery and documentation on new and existing software projects and systems. You will work as part of a team to ensure delivery of high quality system solutions in line with Velocity Markets tactical & strategic requirements. You will be required to undertake programming tasks primarily using .Net Framework. The role will require you to have a flexible and open approach to IT without any overall dependency on single technologies.

Current projects include: The highest volume forex broker marketing website in the retail industry, contracted with 37 of the leading global forex firms, retail and institutional online forex broking operations, a community and social forex portal with industry leading analytical tools, and a forex broking model.

Essential Skills

    * In depth knowledge and experience in the following technologies C#, VB.NET,  ASP.NET, HTML, CSS, Ajax/JavaScript, XML, jQuery / DOM & SQL.
    * IIS 6.0 & 7.0
    * SQL Server 2008 & TSQL
    * GIT & Subversion
    * Experience with .Net web application development up through to .Net 4.0
    * Extensive experience with Object-oriented analysis, programming and design
    * Extensive experience  and working with relational database systems
    * Experience of CMS systems
    * Experience of support and development of high performance web applications
    * Ability to work with a design team to produce websites that are attractive, compelling and easy to navigate and use

Desirable Skills

Knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

    * An understanding of Agile development methodologies.
    * Experience with Google analytics and search engine optimization
    * Java, PHP, MySQL, Perl, C++
    * Experience with the Drupal and Dotnetnuke CMS
    * Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator
    * General forex trading knowledge
    * Experience with Metatrader client, Metatrader server and API, Metatrader bridges, bank liquidity and trade flow, FIX

    * Able to plan workload effectively, taking into account dependencies of code and/or components being worked on by other team members in a collaborative project environment
    * Deployment of software artefacts

Educational/Experience Requirements

    * Minimum 4 years experience doing similar work.
    * BS or higher preferred.
