Permanent Maintenance Engineering Manager, Other, Northern Suburbs. a Successfully established and progressive engineering and manufacturing organization based in the Northern Suburbs has a vacancy available for a suitably experienced Maintenance Engineering Manager.  
Role purpose: Reporting to the Production Manager, the Maintenance Engineering Manager establishes maintenance and preventative maintenance programme for all plant, machinery and equipment and monitors the implementation thereof.
Responsibilities: Manage the Maintenance Engineer and Preventative Maintenance Engineer. Execute all preventative maintenance schedules on plant machines. Responsible to manage machine utilization, breakdowns, and repair thereof. Support the production department and provide feedback on maintenance progress. Plan, schedule and inform production department of all machine repairs/stoppages.
Responsible for all maintenance approvals (requisitions). Coordinate tasks delegated to relative artisans, and engineers in the department. Responsible for effective delegation on urgent repair work. Responsible for machine improvements, and execution of maintenance schedules. Responsible for final approval of maintenance repairs.
Designs and Drawings: Sign machine and production equipment designs where applicable. Sign maintenance designs and drawings within the plant where applicable. Liaise with project engineer on all project design requirements.
Tooling Department: Ensure effective management of all tooling staff. Responsible for effective delegation of daily tasks, and urgent repair work on tools. Monitor in and out movement of all tool and workshop parts from the store. Monitor stock levels, and stock control of tool parts. Responsible for the recordkeeping of tool movement, and the history of tools services. Monitor and control costing and expenses in the toolroom and workshop department.
Measurement and Staff Management: Measure, monitor and control all maintenance expenses as presented by the maintenance engineer. Measure, monitor and control all preventative maintenance services to reduce downtime. Monitor and control all expenses in each department according to budget. Liaise with all artisans withing department and monitor their performance. Liaise with Health and Safety inspector in the plant with relation to plant facilities. Conduct performance reviews with maintenance and preventative maintenance engineers.
Requirements: Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate. Completed Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputable University. Minimum of 4 – 5 years’ experience in a similar role relating to Maintenance Management within a Manufacturing environment. Proactive and methodical with a hands-on and technical approach.
