Job Description
The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a non-profit policy institute, is seeking a research assistant to work with a team of highly skilled national policy analysts on a range of federal budget, tax, and low-income policy issues.  The Center has attained a national reputation for its unique capacity to blend rigorous, timely analyses with activities designed to enable policymakers and the media to make use of its work.
The research assistant works on current federal budget and tax policy issues, particularly those affecting lower income families and individuals.  The Center examines the long-term budget implications of such proposals, how their benefits would be distributed across different income groups, and the extent to which they are likely to achieve their stated objectives.  The position involves collecting and analyzing data, developing written analyses and graphic presentations of findings, analyzing pending legislative and policy options, and utilizing academic research and other resource materials.  The RA assists in preparing major reports and analyses that pertain to major decisions pending before Congress and the Executive Branch.  In addition, the RA provides information to policymakers, the media, and other national organizations.
