Job Description
The Broward County Aviation Department seeks an experienced Director to oversee the Airport Development’s Planning Division at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). Responsibilities include: directing the completion of all Planning Division activities and various studies such as Master Plans, Part 150, ALP updates, and NEPA; coordinating airport plans with the Capital Improvement Project group; and oversight of various Aviation Department plans and initiatives such as airport noise monitoring, environmental compliance program and geographic information system.
The successful candidate will provide outstanding leadership to staff and be able to communicate both orally and in writing on a broad range of aviation issues including technical information and concepts to many diverse groups. The ideal candidate should also be detail oriented, proactive and politically astute at building and cultivating positive and cooperative relationships with all Airport stakeholders including airlines, local community organizations and business coalitions.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with major course work in engineering, planning, architecture or related field; six (6) years’ experience in major airport planning, architecture or engineering, including four (4) years high level supervisory and administrative experience; or any equivalent combination of relevant training and experience. A valid Florida Driver’s license is required.
Prefer candidates who possess substantial experience in a large hub airport planning or engineering environment.
