Mechanical Designer, City Centre, Cape Town. Our prominent client, in the marine engineering industry based in the heart of Cape Town, is currently looking to employ a skilled Mechanical Designer with project management experience. You will be part of a highly driven and diverse team of engineers. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience within a similar environment.
Responsibility You will be responsible for the following: Design new parts and systems from the specification. Create and release manufacturing drawings. Responsible for detail engineering, technical reviewing, evaluating, and implementing engineering changes and system specification requirements.
Prepare assembly and detail drawings based on the information and instruction provided. Execute projects as part of job development. Solve problems relating to quality and dimensional variation of parts. Design systems and components that meet the needs and requirements of the client. Liaise with the Engineers, Specialists, and Project Managers to ensure that the proposed design is in compliance with the business requirements.
Ad hoc engineering drawings. Gather required engineering information. Perform site visits if needed. Perform tasks in compliance with the Company’s Systems, Standards, and Procedures. Draw and design technical 2D +/ 3D drawings and specifications for projects and manufacturing purposes.
Education: Matric, National Diploma / B.Tech (Mechanical / Mechatronics / Industrial Engineering). Computer Software: AutoCad (2D & 3D Modelling), Solidworks, Inventor, 3D CAD.
It will be advantageous to have the following experience: Project Management, Hands-on approach to projects, Be able to operate in a highly pressurized industry, Experience in the Marine / Offshore Industry. Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge. Excellent manufacturing process knowledge. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client relationship. Creative and basic design skills.
Function independently and within a team environment, driven, and can handle high-pressure and bottleneck situations. Must have the ability to think out of the box.
