Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school, Not required
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, WHMIS Certificate
Experience: 3 years to less than 5 years
Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer, Flatbed
Type of Travel: Short-haul, Regional
Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Loading and unloading of goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Perform preventive maintenance
Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers
Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Driving record check (abstract)
Own Tools/Equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding
