Due to continued rapid growth, Focal Point has created the new position of Manager of Accounting and Administration. Reporting to the Director of Optical Services, the Manager of Accounting and Administration will have hands on responsibilities including: accounting, budgeting, controls, financial analysis, business information technology, payroll, facilities management, human resource/benefits administration and support for business planning. Depending on the qualifications of the candidate, this could be a reduced work week position.
Key Responsibilities
 Successfully transition the accounting function from external service providers to an in-house function.
 Maintain full cycle accounting including accounts receivable, accounts payable and the preparation of financial statements.
 Track and suggest improvements to enhance business performance.
 Prepare and compare to actual budgets, financial forecasts, and financial analysis.
 Implement internal controls including accounting policies, procedures and work standards.
 Support the analysis of capital equipment expenditures.
 Monitor performance metrics to ensure efficient and productive performance of all divisions of the practice.
 Oversee physical plant services including cleaning, maintenance and repairs of leasehold property.
 Implement and maintain the accounting software system, with support as needed.
 Liaise with hardware, software and technical support suppliers to ensure effective system operations and utility.
 Prepare and work with the external accounting firm on the annual financial review.
 Coordinate, track and keep records of payroll, employee benefits and paid time off.
Selection Criteria
 Courses toward an accounting designation or post-secondary courses toward a designation.
 Minimum of three years of experience in full cycle accounting.
 Experience monitoring business performance.
 Self-starter, high energy, hands on – ability to work proactively and independently to create a positive working culture.
 Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and decision-making abilities.
 Previous experience with accounting systems.
 Is open to relocating to Morden or surrounding area.
