Psychology Graduate for Autism Academy, Randburg, Johannesburg. Company Name: Amazing K. Psychology Graduate needed for the role of Classroom Assistant needed at Autism Specialist Academy in the Northwold/Randburg area. RNeg but note this is an entry-level (half-day) position.

Hours: 7h30 till 14h30 Monday to Friday

Terms: 4 school terms per year

Specifics for this position are: Ideal candidate will have a degree in Psychology or Early Childhood Development. South African applications will take preference but candidates with valid work permits will also be considered. Minimum qualification Matric with proof of current studies will also be considered. The candidate must have a keen interest in working with children with learning and language challenges that are between the ages of 2 and 7 years. Candidates must be passionate, patient, diligent, fast-thinking, hard-working, and mature for their age individuals that want to learn and what are will start at the bottom.

Computer literacy is essential. English is essential. Candidates with some child-related working experience will take preference but the experience is non-essential as this is an entry-level position.

Duties will include: working with children on the autism spectrum in a group setting of a 4:1 ratio, daily play-based therapy/learning activity implementation, helping children become independent through the implementation of therapies and academic based curriculum, helping children with day to day activities which include toilet training, feeding, dressing and skills for daily living, helping to maintain a well run, clean and tidy classroom, assisting during functions and parties, on-the-job training in a variety of activities such as lesson planning, behavior intervention, autism-specific teaching techniques and first aid, sign language, AAC communication implementation and so much more.
