Financial Modelling and Valuations Analyst, Sandton, Johannesburg. Financial advisory firm seeks to fill a Financial Modelling and Valuations Analyst role.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Financial Mathematics, Financial Economics, Quantitative Finance, Business Science, or Investment Management. Honours and/or Masters Degree in the above or related disciplines will be advantageous. FMVA, CFA, CA and similar designations recommended but not mandatory.

Minimum 3 years’ experience including: Building financial models using historical data. Identifying, documenting and discussing model assumptions. Conducting scenario analysis based on macro and micro factors. Developing new models and enhancing the existing models. Recommending and implementing process improvements. Identifying key financial and non-financial risks and mitigations. Applying appropriate sensitivity analysis to models. Performing valuations and capital structure analysis. Conducting model validation confirming model accuracy. Client engagement and team management will be advantageous.

Key skills and attributes: Advanced MS Excel skills i.e. formulas, charts, macros, VBA. Basic understanding of accounting concepts and principles. Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques i.e. NPV, DCF, IRR. Decision making ability based on financial models and other insights. Comprehension of business systems and processes. Astute problem-solving and solutions development capability. Technical skills in business model development. Exceptional written and verbal communication. Strong time management skills - deadline driven. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Expected delivery and output: Complete, accurate and predictive financial models. Financial model data, statistics and assumptions. Sensitivity and scenario analysis reports. Project (client) and internal valuation reports. Graphic and narrative presentation of model.
