Job Description: We are representing our client, a leader in the hospitality contracting industry, in their search for a Payroll Officer. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting the management of payroll processes and ensuring the precise and timely payment of employee salaries. This position offers valuable experience within the payroll field and the chance to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This position is based in Camps Bay and is an in office position

Payroll Processing: Assist in processing employee payroll information, including salary calculations, deductions, and taxes. Collaborate with senior payroll staff to ensure accurate and timely payroll transactions. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data and operations.

Record Keeping and Compliance: Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Support the administration of employee benefits, including provident fund and group benefits.

Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations and assist in updating payroll policies and procedures accordingly.

Operations: Assist in maintaining the integrity of new staff records on the payroll system. Review HR files to ensure all necessary documents are in place before adding new employees to the system. Support payroll document processing and reporting.

Payment Processing: Assist in ensuring all employees are paid within agreed timelines. Participate in payment reconciliations and advance processing.

Statutory Requirements: Assist in reconciling and uploading EMP201 forms to the relevant authorities. Support pension fund contribution reconciliation and claims processing. Assist in reconciling and processing 3rd party transactions. Contribute to labor audit management.

Controls: Stay informed about statutory requirements and advise management on compliance. Assist in the timely distribution of payslips. Participate in monthly bank reconciliation.

ESS System: Maintain and guide ESS groups to standard format. Provide support to managers in using the ESS system. Monitor and follow up on leave transactions.

Leave Management: Assist in leave approval processes and queries. Ensure accurate accrual of annual, sick, and family responsibility leave. Maintain leave records for paid-per-hour staff.

Administration: Perform annual leave reconciliations as needed. Assist in maintaining ESS user profiles and passwords. Support in preparing payroll information for annual audits.

Human Resources: Foster positive relationships and open communication within the team.

Apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.

Suggest improvements to internal policies and procedures when needed.

General: Provide support to the Group Financial Manager and CFO in payroll-related queries.

Qualifications: Proficiency in VIP payroll software is essential. Experience in managing a small team or working collaboratively in a team is preferred. Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.

Effective communication skills, particularly when dealing with executive-level staff. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
