An immediate opportunity awaits an experienced Risk & Safety Officer to join our Health and Safety Division in Swellendam. The position involves travel to our clients outside sites in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Moorreesburg.

Key Responsibilities: Ensure compliance, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and evaluation of organizational processes. Maintain Health and Safety Management Systems for all SOILL sites. Facilitate risk identification assessments, evaluate and develop safe work procedures. Review and investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing mitigating measures. Conduct regular Safety Committee Meetings as per OHSA requirements. Oversee Health & Safety Representatives' monthly inspections and report submission. Audit external contractors for compliance with Construction Regulation requirements.

Manage continuous Health & Safety training for all employees on safe work procedures. Effectively manage security and external security service providers. Manage and maintain the onsite medical clinic, including staff medical records.

Main Duties: Ensure functionality and compliance of fire detection and suppression systems at all sites. Ensure compliance of steam generators, pressure vessels, forklifts, lifting gear, and mobile cranes. Report deviations and required actions on all plant areas to management. Submit Health and Safety Reports and plant statistics regularly to the business analysis department. Ensure construction and installation processes adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental standards. Conduct Site Safety induction programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors.

Qualification and Experience: NEBOSH/SAMTRAC/Diploma or degree in OHS Field. Registered with South African Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. Registered with South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions. Emergency medical experience and advanced first aid knowledge. 5 years relevant working experience within an FMCG Environment/Factory Setup. Computer literacy. Knowledge of OHSA & Regulations, NFPA 36, SANS 10400 (Fire Extinguishers), SANS 10139 (Fire Detection). Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Strong administration, organization, and problem-solving skills. Good interpersonal, negotiation, and networking skills. Understanding of relevant legislation and management principles. Ability to understand and deal with diverse cultures and safety culture. Proven ability to manage health & safety, medical, and security requirements. Skilled in identifying, assessing, and managing emotions.
