Financial Accountant, Other, Cape Town. Company Name: Surgo HR & Training. Our client is a prominent private company that owns a number of established outlets in the Western Cape. They are expanding and have a need for enthusiastic people to support this growth, which includes a Financial Accountant position based at our Head Office in Blackheath, Cape Town 

Our client is recruiting for an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team.

Job Purpose The main function of this position is to perform the financial accounting tasks that are required for the production of the monthly management accounts. In this regard, the financial accountant will have the support of a junior accountant, creditor clerks, and store-based administration managers.

Responsibilities: Processing of monthly journals (payroll, sales, cost of sales, depreciation, revenue and expense, general accruals, etc.) to finalize the monthly accounts

Reconciliation of General Ledger clearing accounts, other General Ledger accounts, and resolution of outstanding to ensure completeness and accuracy. Produce the management accounts and perform the month-end close process. Maintenance of fixed asset registers (including accounting for additions and disposals). Periodic insurance reviews and updates of insurance values are conducted through direct communication with the companies' insurance brokers.

Submission of statutory returns to SARS and any further detailed information or reconciliations related to those submissions that may be requested. Produce the annual financial statements and prepare the necessary supporting working papers that may be required for the annual financial audits. Attending to general financial administrative matters, which includes communication with our service providers (various banks, lessors, the Spar Group (Pty) Ltd. distribution center, and external auditors),

Qualification and requirements: Bcom accounting honors with 4 years post-qualification experience. Alternatively, a CASA with 2 years of post-article experience. Retail accounting experience would be a significant advantage. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Quick learner and efficient. An approach that focuses on getting the work done correctly. The ability to independently complete assigned tasks within identified time frames.

Salary: Market related

Working hours: Monday to Sunday Shifts
