Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Driver's Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Certificate, WHMIS Certificate, Air Brake Adjustment Certificate
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Type of Trucking and Equipment: Tractor-trailer
Type of Travel: Short-haul, Local, Provincial/territorial
Documentation Knowledge: Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports, Dangerous goods occurrence reports
Weight Handling: More than 45 kg (100 lbs)
Specific Skills: Loading and unloading of goods, Plan travel schedules and routes, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Transport hazardous products or dangerous goods, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance
Additional Skills: Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers
