Our client is an established company in the Upper Highway area, specialising in steel manufacturing and engineering. They have been in business for 30 years. They are suppliers of a vast number of steel products to the industrial, commercial, and domestic sectors. They are looking for an experienced and innovative Draughtsman to join their team.

Responsibilities: Utilize AutoCAD and Auto Inventor to create detailed technical drawings and plans for mechanical components, equipment, and systems. Collaborate with engineers and design teams to ensure accuracy and feasibility of drawings, particularly in materials handling systems such as conveyor belts, tanks, gearbox, and drive chains. Conduct calculations for speed, capacity, and other parameters related to materials handling systems. Produce material lists and bills of materials for drawings, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Apply optimisation techniques to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness in designs. Draw on experience in mechanical engineering and factory settings to contribute insights and practical solutions to design challenges. Conduct occasional site visits to gather information, verify specifications, and address project requirements. Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and out-of-the-box thinking in problem-solving. Maintain organized documentation of drawings, revisions, and project files.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or a related field. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Auto Inventor. Experience in materials handling systems such as conveyor belts, tanks, gearbox, and drive chains. Ability to perform calculations for speed, capacity, and other parameters related to materials handling. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting technical drawings. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Familiarity with optimisation techniques to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Experience in drawing and factory settings preferred but not essential. Willingness to occasionally travel for site visits. Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, with minimal oversight. Commitment to teamwork, professionalism, and a strong work ethic.
