Ranger in Charge. Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania. St Helens, Launceston & North East TAS. Conservation, Parks & Wildlife (Farming, Animals & Conservation). Government - State (Government & Defence). Full time. $96,584 to $101,313 pro rata, per annum + super.

About the role As the Ranger in Charge you will manage the day-to-day operations of the St Helens Field Centre. You will support and develop the skills and potential of your team and contribute to progression of the regional business plan and achievement of the strategic goals.

The Ranger in Charge is responsible for a small, dedicated and highly competent team which focuses on the management of the numerous reserves which dominate the area. This large area ranges from the Chain of Lagoons in the South to Mount William National Park in the North.

The role of Ranger in Charge is an opportunity to be member of a welcoming community managing a highly skilled team in a beautiful region of Tasmania.

Our ideal candidate has: A Diploma in Conservation and Land Management or other qualifications deemed equivalent. Minimum of five years’ experience in reserve management or equivalent. A current motor vehicle drivers licence. Proficiency in leading teams and volunteer programs. Strong interpersonal skills. Experience with fire management operations. Operational management skills, including project management, resource allocation and decision making.
