Project Officer - Land Transfer Support - Aboriginal Identified position. NSW Aboriginal Land Council. Parramatta, Sydney NSW. Indigenous & Multicultural Services (Community Services & Development). Full time. Aboriginal Identified position. Fulltime-Temporary position– Contract Ending January 25. This position is based at Head Office Parramatta. Commencing Salary $94,590 per annum plus superannuation of 12%. 70-hour fortnight, NFP salary packaging, EAP, hybrid workplace and other benefits.

The Project: This project aims to address commitments in the National Agreement under Socio-Economic Outcome 15: Land & Water. The transfer of land is a critical part of supporting Aboriginal communities, but it must be accompanied by resourcing, policies and actions that allow these communities to unlock the full economic and cultural potential of land that has been transferred. The project will undertake research to identify current land activation pathways, analyse risks, gaps, and blockages, identify supports required and innovative models for success.

This project will explore the potential future requirements of local communities as well as the specifics of the land that is being activated, to ensure the support models address the specific Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) and Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) needs within the local community.

About the role: The Project Officer undertakes project management and support activities in line with the project scope, encompassing land activation pathways, risks, gaps and blockages to land activation and models for unlocking the full economic and cultural potential of land that has been transferred back to Aboriginal communities, in line with the project scope.

Key Responsibilities of the Project Officer include but are not limited to: Develop strategies to foster engagement from Aboriginal communities relating to the project and build positive relationships with community organisations across NSW. Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, negotiation, and issues management to engage stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Identify risks, issues and stakeholders that could impact the success of the project team and provide advice on appropriate engagement and communication responses. Provide guidance and advice to the project team on culturally effective techniques to engage Aboriginal communities in project development and implementation processes. Assist project staff with the development of community engagement resources and ensure this is maintained in a timely and clear manner. Assist in the development of effective policies and procedures to support the implementation of the project.

Proactively practice continuous improvement to ensure team, organisation and stakeholder expectations are met. Act in accordance with NSWALC people policies and procedures, including WHS obligations, applying high standards of probity and ethical behaviour.
