Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540 km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in the core Newmont region.

The Tanami Expansion 2 project aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040 by investing in a hoisting shaft, which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. The successful exploration of the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion have laid the foundation for further development of the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio.

The Opportunity: You will be responsible for the integrity of Tanami’s Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and oversee the design, construction, operation, and monitoring of the TSFs, including serving as the Deputy Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer. The role assists in the management of the tailings production requirements and strategies for paste backfill to fulfil medium- and long-term mine plans. You will also assist with the water management of tailings, water systems, and associated processing water systems to achieve compliance with water stewardship commitments.

About You Tertiary qualification in geotechnical engineering or similar. Postgraduate experience in the industry. Experience in a similar technical role. Experience, knowledge, and competencies appropriate to the complexity of the TSF and associated risks. Problem solver with excellent communication and team-based skills. Advanced PC skills and computer literacy with knowledge of financial and administrative processes. Applications close on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
