About the role: You will lead and manage a function responsible for providing leadership and support across EPA to lead, build and strengthen implementation of key components of the environmental justice (EJ) Framework. You will provide advice and legal expertise to EPA and strategically network, support and advise on effective engagement and partnership, particularly where there are strategic overlaps with Annual Delivery plans, strategic frameworks, organisational programs, policies, and initiatives.
In this role, you will: Lead the environmental justice function in building, maintaining, and leveraging strategic relationships and partnerships to ensure that the EPA is a trusted and influential authority. Ensure a robust, transparent, risk- and evidence-based approach within the environmental justice function, empowering and supporting staff, and devolving decision-making with an appropriate accountability framework embedded within the unit.
Identify, lead and manage the provision of strategic advice to effectively build the environmental justice function and capability within EPA; identify emerging complex or highly sensitive issues, risks and trends impacting on the successful achievement of EPA's strategic priorities. Lead the delivery of high-quality support and engagement across EPA to build relationships and partnerships around environmental justice.
Partner across EPA to lead the delivery, review and updating of EPA's Environmental and Restorative Justice Framework.
Skills and experience: A relevant tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualifications in law are required. A proven record of achievement in a senior management role leading an advice and advocacy function, preferably within Government. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in environmental and restorative justice as it applies in environmental regulation. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including building a shared sense of direction, clarifying priorities, and identifying and responding proactively to strategic issues impacting the operating environment. Proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive senior management team in an organisation.
