Sydney Children's Hospitals Network is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes, with one purpose in mind: to help young people live their healthiest lives. This role will require working two days per week, with the expectation that the successful applicant will work across both Westmead and Randwick campuses in a recurring manner. The main department the successful applicant will work in will be Kids Rehab at The Children's Hospital Westmead.

The primary purpose of the Education Support Officer (ESO) is to support and enhance the provision and access of education to the rehabilitation departments at SCHN and the broader NSW Paediatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS).
The NSW PRS is a partnership between the three tertiary paediatric rehabilitation services across NSW: Kids Rehab at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Rehab2Kids at Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick, and HNEkidsRehab at Hunter New England Local Health District. The purpose of this partnership is to ensure a consistent, coordinated approach to the provision of specialized paediatric rehabilitation across NSW so that children, young people, and their families have equitable access to care.
The ESO will work with key stakeholders across the NSW PRS to develop systems and processes to support the collection, access, and maintenance of rehabilitation educational resources within a centralised portal, including access to professional development opportunities. A sustainable method of collating and sharing educational opportunities should be considered. The position will develop effective communication strategies to enhance the capacity for staff across the PRS to access high-quality best practice resources. The resultant outcomes of this initiative will be to assist in the streamlining of clinical practices across the PRS to promote consistency and equity of access for families and children to tertiary paediatric rehabilitation services.
Experience in the design and/or delivery of education and training initiatives in a health-related setting. An understanding of the health system, including the provision of paediatric healthcare services. Demonstrated computer skills and experience in computer-based applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and information systems (e.g., Microsoft 365). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the capacity to prepare high-quality reports and presentations,.
Strong engagement in quality improvement, including project design, implementation, and evaluation. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate, consult, and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. Demonstrated time management and prioritisation skills to effectively manage competing demands.
