Roko Island (Roko Pearls) is a small, privately owned, remote island in the Torres Strait. To the south of the Torres Strait is the Cape York Peninsula, the northernmost extremity of the Australian mainland. To the north is Papua New Guinea. The Australian mainland is only about a 20–30 minute boat ride from Roko Island.  Roko Island has a glamping setup for guests. Roko Island Fishing Charters provides day fishing charters and also extended fishing trips.

This is a ‘live on’ island-based position, so do keep in mind that it will require you to stay away from home for a few months and live on a remote island. You will be driving small boats between 6 and 7 meters long.  The role involves ensuring that our guests experience the highest level of service.

The successful candidate must have at least 2 years of experience as a fishing guide and good boat handling skills. An unrestricted Coxswain certificate, CPR, and first aid are a must. ABN and a police clearance check are required.

This is a seasonal contract position starting immediately. Serious applicants only and those who are able to meet the requirements mentioned. Free basic accommodation will be provided to the successful candidate.

Required attributes: excellent knowledge about fishing and boats. Good seamanship. Basic mechanical knowledge. Presentable in appearance and professional. Excellent communication and customer skills. Safe in practice. Good team worker. Good time management skills. Work well under pressure. Handle emergency situations effectively. Ability to take on other roles on the island.
