The Maternity Unit, Launceston General Hospital: The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is the major referral hospital in Northern Tasmania. As a registered midwife, you will be part of the team that delivers approximately 1,600 new-born babies each year. With a 6-bed labor ward, a 30-bed maternity unit, and a 9-bed special care unit, your work will be fast-paced and very rewarding.

You will have the opportunity to work in various models of midwifery care, including antenatal, birth, and postnatal, including community-based postnatal care, midwifery group practice, and team midwifery. Opportunities for career advancement and access to professional development.

The Role: The Registered Midwife strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women, their families, and other health professionals.

Details of Appointments: Multiple permanent, full-time, and part-time shift work (fully rotational), commencing as soon as possible, notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant. Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full-time and part-time vacancies. Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 pro rata per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging. Access to the Grade 4 salary range of $96,558–$102,908 is subject to a successful application for progression to Grade 4. The salary range is in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the following essential criteria: Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife. Current Working with Children Registration. Registrations and licenses that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration and licenses remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration or license is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
