selectability provides and coordinates NDIS supports, aged care services, clinical services, and Safety and delivers government-funded mental wellbeing, carer and youth support programs.

We are one of the largest providers of mental health services across our diverse footprint, extending from Mornington Island, Cairns to Rockhampton and Palm Island to Mount Isa, and growing. Our 2023 employee survey indicated that 79% of employees rate selectability as a truly great place to work.

In early 2023, selectability extended its pre-existing support for children in the child protection system who need residential care. As a result of the growing demand for child safety services across the state, selectability has made the decision to extend this service delivery model to accommodate more young Queenslanders in need of support.

About the role: selectability is looking for a passionate and motivated? youth worker to join our growing team!?Our youth residential program provides accommodation and intensive support to children and young people who have a variety of needs.

As a Youth worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our children and young people to to live their best life. You will bring a genuine passion and commitment to make a difference in the life of children and young people. Youth Workers perform a rewarding role filled with variety! No two days are the same as you support children and young people to work towards their own, unique goals.?Children and young people may come with high to complex needs, and selectability aspires to promote consistent and stable teams to support the recovery of our young people.

You will be the person who works with children and young people to build their daily life skills, which promotes safe attachment and relationships. You will build rapport and relationships with children and young people and act as a role model in developing their independence and daily skills. You will also provide transport to and from activities. It could be anything from shopping to attending social events and appointments... to name a few activities!?

Working at selectability is more than just a job—it’s a career. No industry experience is necessary; however, a positive outlook, ability to work towards completing the required qualification, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of regional Queenslanders are a must.

About You

To be successful, you must:? have a minimum of Cert IV qualification recognised under the child safety minimum qualification standards, with preferred qualifications in Cert IV Child, Youth, and Family Intervention, or Cert IV Mental Health (or a willingness to obtain prior to selectability certification).

Possess the certification in Hope and Healing for residential care or ability to obtain, have a positive attitude, possess clear and effective communication skills, demonstrate computer literacy and accuracy in record management, experience working in a team environment, exhibit an ability to problem solve, be able to follow policies and procedures at all times, be able to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals, and be flexible to work across a 24/7 roster.

You will also need: a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland driver’s license and a currently registered, roadworthy, and fully comprehensively insured vehicle. First Aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain), a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement), a current yellow card exemption or a NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain prior to commencement).
