About the Company: Our client, a regional local council, is seeking a Communications & Engagement Advisor for an initial 3-month contract. As the office is regionally based, this role can be fully remote for the duration of the contract.

About the Role: Communicate organizational messages and initiatives as approved by the Executive Manager Communications & Engagement. Roll out effective and positive communications, along with proactive media campaigns, for the Council's major projects, events, services, initiatives, and decisions. Develop engagement plans to ensure broad community participation. Create engagement reports that clearly outline community feedback. Assist in the development and implementation of engagement processes for the Council Plan, Budget, and Asset Plan. Prepare and distribute high-quality, creative media releases and marketing materials to enhance the organization's brand and reputation. Organize interviews with key council spokespeople and ensure they are well-informed with key messages.

Manage the Council's website and social media channels as required. Coordinate advertising and marketing efforts. Draft key council publications as needed. Ensure consistent branding across all communications and engagement campaigns by collaborating with Council staff and business areas.

Support the mayor and councillors in managing adverse publicity or reputational risks in consultation with the executive manager of communications & engagement.

About You: Tertiary qualifications, or relevant experience, in Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism. Proven experience in leading communications and engagement planning and delivery. Ability to design and deliver innovative communication campaigns across all channels. Excellent communication skills with high-level interpersonal, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement capabilities. Excellent communication, presentation/delivery, and customer relations skills. Ability to convey and enhance understanding of complex information. Ability to relate professionally and enthusiastically to a diverse range of people. Proven experience in leading communications and engagement planning and delivery.
