About the Role: We are looking for a talented senior editor, English & Humanities, to join our product team. The successful candidate will be responsible for editorial project management of complex digital and print products in the Secondary English and Humanities portfolio, ensuring products adhere to agreed budgets, deadlines, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities: Coordinate freelance suppliers to edit and develop content for publication to agreed budgets, schedules, and expected quality standards. Ensure published products meet the required quality standards. Manage and update content in OUPANZ's content management system, including ensuring content meets styling guidelines and approving content for publication. Conduct editorial checks on print files, including approving content for printing. Develop subject matter expertise in the assigned portfolio and ensure products adhere to subject-specific style sheets. Contribute to the continuous improvement and implementation of editorial processes and workflows for digital and print products. Develop and maintain productive and successful internal and external relationships with colleagues in the product, production, design, and digital product management teams, as well as authors and freelance editorial suppliers. Contribute to the strategic direction of the editorial team and the wider product team.

About You:

Essential: Excellent editorial and proofreading skills. Good understanding of the editing and publishing process. Effective communication skills and command of the English language. Excellent organization skills and an ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Project management expertise. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Experience working as an editor in an in-house or freelance capacity.

Desirable: Degree/postgraduate qualification in editing and publishing. Experience in educational publishing or a related field. Understanding of the Australian education system. Editorial experience in the assigned subject-specific portfolio. Experience with content management systems. Knowledge of HTML and XML.
