The Curtin Institute for Data Science (CIDS) is an interdisciplinary knowledge accelerator established in 2016 to meet increasing demand for computational modeling. Our aim is to apply data science, high-performance computing, and software development to provide innovative solutions to the real-world problems of government, industry, and academia.

The institute supports a growing network of SMEs, external organizations, government departments, researchers, cooperative research centers, and not-for-profits across various sectors. At present the institute would typically contribute to 30-40 research projects per annum, working with over 50 external organizations.

About the role: We are seeking a detail-oriented product manager to join the ARDC node at the CIDS. This position will report to the node’s team lead at Curtin and to the director of national coordination at the ARDC. The ARDC Product Manager (Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Indigenous RDC) leads the development of products within the ARDC’s Community Data Lab, focusing on tools and datasets for researchers in the humanities, arts, social sciences, and Indigenous studies. The role involves defining product strategy, engaging stakeholders, managing product development, and ensuring alignment with the ARDC’s strategic goals. The product manager collaborates with external partners, researchers, and engineers to improve product functionality and adoption, ensuring sustainable, impactful resources for the research community.

Your responsibilities for this role include developing and managing the product strategy, vision, and roadmap for the Community Data Lab (CDL), aligning with ARDC’s strategic goals. Engage with stakeholders to gather input, improve product fit, and ensure the product meets research needs.

Collaborate with ARDC engineers to develop, test, and maintain the product’s technical features.

Lead community engagement, including participation in relevant groups, events, and initiatives to drive product adoption. Track and report on product progress, prioritizing development, maintenance, and new features. Advise and assist external stakeholders with product fit, use, and technical requirements.

We are looking for: Relevant degree or extensive experience in product management, with specialized expertise in research or digital infrastructure. Strong knowledge of research data management, FAIR data principles, and systems interoperability. Experience in strategy development and delivering products/services to the research community. Specialist knowledge in digital research infrastructure or fields like humanities, arts, social sciences, or indigenous research. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Proven ability to manage relationships, prioritize tasks, and perform well under pressure.
