Job Summary: This position is for a casual disability support worker at Ability Rise Accommodation and Care, a growing NDIS service provider specialized in supported independent living (24/7 care).
We are seeking passionate, caring, and highly committed individuals to be part of our team. As a disability support worker, you will be required to maximize the living, employment, social, and recreational skills of people with disabilities. Community inclusion, independence, decision-making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.
Please note the position is for the Adelaide metropolitan area, stretching from Munno Para to Seaford, and includes a variety of suburbs and communities.
Key responsibilities and duties: assisting participants to perform important daily activities and home-based tasks. Provide short-term focused interventions, psycho-education, and mentoring. Facilitating daily personal hygiene and care tasks. Assisting with coordinating and facilitating community access. Providing emotional support and encouragement. Supporting and encouraging informal networks and relationships. Facilitating participant communication and enhancing their choice and decision-making processes. Implementing and monitoring behavior management strategies as required. Empowering participants with learning, skill development, and employment. Transporting participants to medical and other appointments and social activities as required. Upholding the rights, independence, and dignity of all participants and ensuring confidentiality and that their choices are recognized at all times.
To be eligible for the position: Minimum Certificate III in Disability or other relevant qualification. DCSI Clearance. NDIS worker check. National Police Clearance. Medication Administration Certificate. Current First Aid (HLTAID001, HLTAID002, HLTAID003). Current Child Safe Environments Certificate. NDIS Worker Orientation Module. COVID-19 Awareness Certificate. Have a driver’s license. Own your own car and have full comprehensive roadworthy vehicle insurance. An understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Experience in the mental health industry will be highly desirable.
This position requires working a variety of shifts, including day shifts, passive shifts, and active night shifts. Only successful applicants will be offered a phone or in-person interview.
