About the position

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences is a dynamic community of scholars who research and teach about the human experience—from its earliest beginnings to the latest developments in society, politics, and culture.

The Administration Coordinator has a key role within the school, reporting directly to the Senior Manager and leading the school administration team. Ensuring that the administration requirements of the school are met efficiently and effectively. Fostering a collaborative culture within the administration team while overseeing the allocation of activities and managing resources. Focusing on continuous improvement of processes and procedures with a high emphasis on innovation and training.

Working closely with the senior manager to ensure an effective workflow of activities through to the administration team to meet school needs and timelines. Providing high-level advice, support, and reporting on academic and administrative policies and procedures.

Reporting to the senior manager, some of your duties at this level will include:

Managing a small team of 4 staff performing a related set of functions, usually with distinct areas of expertise, including the allocation of responsibilities, review of performance, training and development of staff, and development or oversight of program procedures, priorities, and quality control systems.

Operational responsibility for staff delivering significant administrative or professional services, including the provision of advice on procedures, systems, priorities, and budgets for the function concerned to more senior managers.

Develops and/or improves the capability of staff within the work area, motivating and mentoring them to better meet the current and future requirements of the school/division/department.

Develop and enable the capability of staff within the work area by monitoring and continuously managing their performance and mentoring them to better meet current and future role requirements. In doing this, provide staff with constructive feedback and support for high-quality performance contributions.

Skills and knowledge required for this position:

An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years of subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training, and/or experience.

Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.

Demonstrated management and leadership skills with successful experience in managing and leading staff to promote a cohesive and effective team and manage workflows.

Demonstrated organization and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently.

Candidates who can demonstrate previous experience in the higher education sector will be highly regarded
