Position responsibilities include:

Formulate policies and strategies with a focus on land-use integration and sustainable transportation planning.

Evaluate transport initiatives using best practices and network performance reviews.

Collaborate with stakeholders for multi-modal infrastructure planning.

Contribute to strategic planning, including planning schemes and infrastructure plans.

Engage in working groups and industry forums on transportation matters.

Create and prioritize transport infrastructure programs and scoping documents.

Coordinate transport infrastructure with other capital works.

Develop access and mobility policies and infrastructure plans.

Provide referral advice on transport standards, infrastructure scheduling, and pricing.

Strategic leadership as part of the Branch management team, to include contributing ideas to support development, applying critical analysis and problem-solving techniques to assess and manage organizational risk, promote and champion a culture of learning and growth, and developing and implement the strategic goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the Program

Maintain clear and factual records that can contribute to legally enforceable compliance outcomes. 

Maintain timely and effective communication with councilors and senior staff about transport planning matters.

Key indicators for success:

Degree qualification in transport planning or civil engineering (specialization in transport or road engineering).

Extensive experience in transport and infrastructure planning, including a thorough knowledge of best practice principles.

Highly developed conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills in a specialist technical environment, including the ability to undertake review of concept designs or transport modelling outcomes.

Sound knowledge and understanding of the legislative framework within which a council operates or the capacity to quickly identify and respond to those requirements.

Demonstrated ability to prepare and monitor budgets.

Demonstrated ability to produce complex reports, correspondence, and briefing material for senior and executive management and elected officials, with the knowledge and capability to convey complex issues in simple terms.

Possession of a current "C" class driver's license.

Ability to pass background checks, as well as a satisfactory result for a National Police History Check
