Report Engine Development Engineers
We need incredibly talented and experienced Haskell engineers to join our top secret (not really) software mission.
You’ll join our elite team of engine developers. Awe-inducing code-crackers by day, functional programming pun-hackers by night. You provide the backbone to our infrastructure. The honeycomb for our hive. The rock solid foundations for our thirty-storey, glass panelled, lava-side volcano lair with BBQ patio, pool, and Bat Cave.
You thrive in doing the really complicated stuff. Your fellow engineers revere you, your team leaders love you, and sales and marketing have no idea what you do. You think in ways that leave others miles behind. Mathematics is a familiar tongue. You’re so good at problem-solving, the NSA has a direct line. You know that the devil is in the detail, but so are you. You are a master at functional programming and get excited by the prospect of modelling powerful calculations for high-performance parallel execution over large datasets. (Seriously, sales and marketing have zero idea about what you do).
You think enterprise software is every bit as exciting as consumer tech and you can’t wait to get into the weeds with our relational databases.
We need you to:
• Help us to build a report and data processing engine for D&B cloud-based applications
• Model powerful calculations and high-performance, parallel execution over large data sets involving data from relational databases and other sources
• Investigate alternative database technologies based on performance and fit
Required Skills
• Functional programming (ideally Haskell)
• Familiarity with Haskell packages: HDBC, parsec, STM, template-haskell, aeson
• SQL & databases (PostreSQL, MySQL, etc)
• Java/JBoss
• JSON/XML
• Git
• Linux or OS X
• Unit testing and integration testing
Experience
• A degree or similar qualification in Computer Science or a related field
• Experience creating commercial software applications, especially Business Intelligence
• Experience uploading and reading large data sets
