Where you'll be working
Royal North Shore Hospital The operating theatres clinical nurse consultant (CNC) provides expert clinical advice to staff, patients, and their carers surrounding the planning and delivery of care in a perioperative setting.
The operating theatres CNC provides support to the interdisciplinary team with a focus on achieving the best outcome for patients under the service.
What you'll be doing
The clinical nurse consultant (CNC) is an expert in nursing who will provide leadership, advice, and recommendations on all aspects of nursing and consult on matters relating to the safe and appropriate use of nursing practices. The CNC will formulate and implement policy, guide practice development, and engage in education and research activities. The CNC is responsible for the provision of clinical supervision to nursing staff and acts as a role model, providing nursing care on a regular basis.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
Registered with Authority to Practice with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Minimum five years full-time postgraduate experience with 3 years full-time equivalent in the specialty field. In addition, the applicant must have an approved postgraduate qualification (minimum graduate diploma/certificate level) or evidence of working towards a master's-level qualification.
Demonstrated clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in nursing practice.
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills across a variety of mediums and an understanding of the practice development framework.
Demonstrated ability to undertake quality improvement and research activities that influence and enhance clinical practice and implement change.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.
