Your new team—the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (CIRA):
CIRA is a multidisciplinary research institute engaged in a range of projects involving or motivated by radio astronomy. CIRA’s activities draw together academic, research, and professional staff from a variety of science, engineering, and computing disciplines to tackle unique and demanding challenges in radio astronomy and beyond. CIRA is the lead organization and operator of the Murchison Widefield Array (MWA) and a key participant in the international SKA project. CIRA comprises the Curtin node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), an unincorporated joint venture with the University of Western Australia and the WA Government Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science, and Industry.
CIRA and ICRAR deliver a dedicated Translation and Impact program (T&I) with a strong reputation for engaging with partners to share our skills, knowledge, and expertise for mutual benefit. About the Role:
The successful candidate will provide high-level operational and administrative support to the Translation & Impact Team and will assist with the development, coordination, and implementation of project deliverables under the guidance of the Translation and Impact Manager, Emmaline Yearsley.
In this role, you will communicate (written and verbally) with diverse audiences, including academics, industry, government, and students. For this reason, we are looking for a candidate with effective verbal and written communication skills and experience communicating with various audiences.
To raise visibility for our projects, we frequently hold events for our various stakeholders, including an annual conference for MWA members (online and in-person), as well as industry and student engagement events. In this role, you will collaborate with the team and relevant stakeholders to coordinate these events, from contributing to the development and effective communication of the event concept to producing event collateral and ensuring events run smoothly. You will excel in this role by demonstrating excellent attention to detail and organizational capability.
Your responsibilities will include
Set up and manage project administrative/support functions covering document management, planning, tracking, reporting, quality management, and communications.
Coordinate the content, publishing, and distribution of the reports and other documentation, as requested and required (e.g., briefing papers, minutes and agenda papers, and general correspondence).
Resolve operational problems and assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, processes, and systems for effective and efficient administration of the project.
Assist in identifying impacts and risks associated with the project and report on and support the project lead with the management of these.
Coordinate requirements for stakeholder meetings, focus groups, events, and workshops.
Liaise with relevant stakeholders and service providers to coordinate meetings, events, the provision of services, and/or procurement of goods.
Undertake preliminary research and data analysis and collate information required for project activities.

Who we are looking for (selection criteria):
Essential Criteria:
Completion of a relevant degree or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with the ability to organize time and work activities according to priorities and to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to consult and liaise effectively with a diverse range of people and with cross-cultural sensitivity.
Demonstrated effective written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise correspondence and documentation.
Proven ability to work well in a team, including respecting differences, leading, supporting others, accepting direction, and working toward group goals.
Demonstrated research and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria:
Previous experience in a tertiary environment
Aptitude for creating compelling visual content using graphic design tools.
Previous direct involvement in event planning and delivery.
Familiarity with digital software, such as Adobe Suite and WordPress.
Role Requirements:
As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role to be considered.
