About Us
Wooleen Station is more than just a station stay—it’s a conservation-driven, regenerative tourism experience. We care deeply about sustainable grazing, land rehabilitation, and meaningful engagement with our local Wajarri community. Our guests come to slow down, connect with nature, and learn about the land’s past, present, and future.
The Wooleen Homestead experience is exclusive—guests stay an average of three to four nights, and we serve all meals as part of a fully catered, immersive stay. Dinner is a hosted experience in the formal dining room, where Frances Pollock and David Pollock share the story of the station, conservation, and working life in the outback.
The homestead is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, offering you structured time off each week.
The Role
As the chef/cook, you’ll prepare wholesome, hearty, and beautifully presented meals using our own grass-fed beef, local lamb, pasture-raised chicken, and fresh produce from our gardens. Think Country Women’s Association (CWA) with pizzazz—home-style meals with a professional and contemporary twist.
Daily Menu:
- Breakfast—Continental and a cooked option
- Lunch—A grazing bar with meats, cheeses, fresh salads, homemade bread, and a soup in winter
- Afternoon Tea—Sweet or savory options
- Pre-Dinner Grazing—Shared platters
- Dinner—main course and dessert
You’ll be cooking for both guests and staff (16–22 meals per day in peak season), creating one set meal per sitting (with dietary adjustments as required).
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is someone who loves food, thrives in a remote setting, and enjoys engaging with people. Guests are welcome in the kitchen, so this role is as much about hospitality as it is about cooking.
