Aboriginal Hostels Limited (AHL) is looking for reliable and motivated kitchenhands and housekeepers to join our team and help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment at our facilities and hostels.

Hostel workers are required to work as part of a team, providing a high level of customer service to AHL residents, including attending to resident requests in a professional and courteous manner. While regular duties will be in either cooking/kitchen work, housekeeping, or night attendant, successful applicants may be required from time to time to perform other duties as directed by the hostel manager or assistant hostel manager to ensure a high level of service is maintained.

The key duties of the position include

Kitchenhand

Preparing and serving meals in accordance with AHL’s set menus.

Maintaining compliance with food safety standards and other relevant legislation.

Assist with food ordering and receive and monitor food and kitchen supplies.

Cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and kitchen equipment.

Preparing the dining room for meal times and clean up afterwards

Housekeeper

Ensuring all areas at our hostel are clean, safe, and hygienic for residents and staff.

Cleaning and maintaining resident rooms and communal areas such as kitchens and bathrooms

Completing laundry tasks

Handle cleaning supplies and equipment carefully and follow safety guidelines.

Assisting with other general maintenance tasks as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

A passion for excellence in customer service.

Relevant experience and qualifications are a bonus but not required for APS2 roles

The health and fitness to participate in an active role.

The ability to follow procedures and work independently.

A positive attitude and a friendly nature.

Eligibility

Candidates must have Australian citizenship

Ability to get and maintain a police check and a Working with Children Check.

What We Offer:

Competitive Pay and Benefits: $59,520 - $64,877 per annum (pro-rated for part-time).

You’ll receive 15.4% superannuation, and generous leave entitlements to make sure you’re well looked after.

Generous Leave Entitlements—including additional days off when a your RDO falls on a public holiday, 18 days sick/personal leave per annum, cultural and NAIDOC day leave
