About the Role:
We’re on the lookout for a capable, confident, and curious administrative officer to join our Student Life and Community (SL&C) team, a dynamic area focused on enhancing student experience and success outcomes through an evidence-informed approach to enable them to thrive academically and grow personally and professionally. Sitting at the heart of SL&C, this role is a linchpin for operational support, working with all the teams across the portfolio.
From calendar management to small-scale project coordination, this is the kind of role where initiative, common sense, and a natural curiosity will take you far. In return, you’ll be working with a fun, agile team that values collaboration and genuinely supports one another. You’ll have the freedom to bring ideas to life, connect across the university, and grow your skills in a space that thrives on purpose.
To be successful in the role, you will take a proactive and collaborative approach to the way you work. You will have a strong eye for detail and take pride in your work, no matter the size or complexity of the task at hand. Your outstanding interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills will enable you to work effectively with all staff, students, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include
Provide administrative support across all SL&C teams to ensure consistent, efficient operations, identifying opportunities for collaboration or optimisation
Manage the Director’s calendar, prioritising urgent and sensitive matters with professionalism
Contribute to showcasing and increasing the awareness and profile of SL&C achievements
Proactively support reporting requirements, such as compiling content for the Student Experience Annual Report
Lead ad-hoc project tasks from start to finish
Organise meetings, events, venues, catering, and promotional materials
Maintain shared documentation and resources
Manage procurement, corporate credit card reconciliations, invoicing, and financial queries
Liaise with internal teams such as HR, Finance, Properties, and Communications
Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:
Demonstrated experience in administrative coordination, preferably in a higher education or complex organisational setting
You’ll enjoy understanding the "why," asking the right questions, and seeking out solutions. Able to see the big picture, join the dots, and anticipate needs before they're voiced
Strong organisational, time management, and multitasking abilities
Excellent working knowledge of Office 365 tools, including Teams, Excel and Outlook
Self-motivated with the initiative to run with tasks and improve how things are done
Comfortable juggling both routine admin and new, short-term projects
A strong sense of ownership and pride in the quality of your work
Willingness to learn and grow—opportunities for development are part of the package
Role Requirements:
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
