About the role
GreenCollar is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented financial accountant to support the finance team on a 12-month parental leave cover. Reporting to the finance manager, you will be integral to the finance team's objective of providing accurate and timely financial information and maintaining compliance with all financial regulations.
The location for the role is flexible, but with a preference for Sydney.
Your day-to-day responsibilities at GreenCollar will include:
Preparing financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations
Ensuring compliance with IFRS and other accounting standards
Managing tax calculations, lodgements, and compliance
Payroll management
Resolving technical accounting issues
Accurately accounting for all trading transactions and positions. This involves ensuring timely processing of trading-related invoices and daily reconciliation of trading accounts, often supported by the Assistant Accountant
Providing detailed financial information and explanations
Assisting in preparing variance analysis reports and compiling supporting documentation for financial reports
Maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records
Skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
CA or CPA (or currently working towards)
Experience in preparing financial statements and performing balance sheet reconciliations
A strong understanding of IFRS and other accounting standards, ensuring compliance
Experience with tax calculations, lodgements, and compliance
Experience in accounting for trading transactions is highly desirable given the team's support for profitable trading operations
Proficiency in advanced Excel and accounting software
Accuracy in monthly reconciliations and IFRS compliance are key performance indicators for this role
The ability to resolve technical accounting issues and handle complex accounting tasks
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with non-financial team members
